Wise Initiatives Society Empowerment (WISE – Uganda) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit and non-denominational charitable organization founded in 2012. WISE was initially registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) with Sheema District Local Government under Minute Resolution 7/2011 (SN1286) and was later registered with the Uganda NGO Bureau in 2023 (Permit No. INDP0005515514NB; Registration No. INDRI62265514NB).
Our Purpose: The main goal of WISE is to empower vulnerable community members through capacity building and the development of talents so that they can competitively and confidently navigate today’s challenging world.
WISE applies an integrated development approach that simultaneously addresses livelihoods, food security, health, water, sanitation and community systems. By tackling multiple development challenges together, we create lasting and scalable impact at household and community levels.

WISE believes that a self-organized, women-led and community-driven approach leads to inclusive, widely supported and sustainable development. The following core values guide all our actions and decisions:
We believe all vulnerable groups should be equal before the law and enjoy the same rights and opportunities. Every individual deserves physical security, access to education and health services, and fair opportunities for employment and social participation.
We value diversity and inclusion. Vulnerable groups—such as women, widows, people living with HIV/AIDS, and single mothers—are often marginalized. Through cooperation and mutual respect, we focus on what unites communities rather than what divides them.
We promote a culture of excellence, accountability and positive attitudes. Empowerment is driven by personal integrity, enthusiasm, commitment, goal setting and the determination to respond constructively to challenges.
We uphold the right of women and vulnerable groups to make decisions about their lives. This includes equal rights to property ownership, quality healthcare, freedom from violence, participation in decision-making, and contributing their perspectives to peace and development processes.
Empowerment includes both psychosocial and economic dimensions. We support women and vulnerable households with access to resources, skills and opportunities that enable them to improve livelihoods, engage in markets, become entrepreneurs and secure sustainable futures for the next generation.
We believe strong partnerships are essential for sustainable development. We work collaboratively with communities, local authorities, schools, faith institutions, civil society organizations and private sector actors to achieve meaningful and lasting impact.
